Rosemary S. Mulryan

is past chair of the Chicago Bar Association Committee on Adoption Law and past president of the board of directors of Gerber/Hart Library and Archives.
She is a frequent lecturer on adoption topics and legal protections for gay and lesbian families.
Rosemary was co-counsel with Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund for the critical case In re K.M., 653 N.E.2d 888 (Ill. App. Ct. 1995), which held that the Illinois Adoption Act does not exclude unmarried individuals from adopting children together, therefore allowing adoption by same-sex couples.

Rosemary is a graduate of Loyola/Mundelein of Chicago and the Chicago-Kent College of Law. She was admitted to practice in Illinois and the United States District Court for Northern Illinois in 1986. In 1988, Rosemary joined Mary M. York to form the law firm of Mulryan & York. She was an adjunct professor at Loyola University Chicago from 1990 to 1997 and is a member of the American Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association.
