Rosemary S. Mulryan

Rosemary S. Mulryan concentrates her practice in the following areas: adoption, estate planning, domestic relations and probate.

Personal Statement

My commitment is to protect the integrity of the family - in all its diverse forms - by forming new families through adoption - by insuring that our client's wishes are respected through proper estate planning - and by helping our clients resolve changes in their relationships through divorce or dissolution of partnerships.

Areas of Practice

Adoption:
She has represented hundreds of adoptive families in all types of adoption: domestic, international, related and second parent/co-parent adoptions. She is available at all stages of the adoption process, from the selection of the appropriate agency to the completion of the adoption. Rosemary is past president of the Chicago Adoption Law Committee of the Chicago Bar Association and is a frequent lecturer on adoption topics.

Estate Planning:
She can prepare wills, trusts and powers of attorney for health care and property to protect the integrity of your family.

Domestic Relations:
At one of the most stressful times in a person's life, Rosemary S. Mulryan can provide calm and clear direction throughout the legal process at reasonable and responsible fees.

Probate:
After the death of a friend or family member, Rosemary can assist you with filing the will and settling the estate. She is also available to work with you on guardianships and minors' estates.

Professional and Community Activities

Rosemary is past president of the Chicago Bar Association Committee on Adoption Law and past president of the board of directors of Gerber Hart Library and Archives. She is a frequent lecturer on adoption topics and legal protections for gay and lesbian families. Rosemary was co-counsel with Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund for the critical caselo, K.M. AND M.M. TO ADOPT OLIVIA (1995), which held that the Illinois Adoption Act does not exclude unmarried individuals from adopting children together, therefore allowing by same sex couples.

Background Information

Rosemary S. Mulryan is a graduate of Loyola/ Mundelein of Chicago and the Chicago- Kent College of Law. She was admitted to practice in Illinois and the United States District Court for North Illinois in 1986. In 1988, Rosemary joined Mary M York to form the law firm of Mulryan and York. She has been an adjunct professor at Loyola University/Chicago since 1990 and is a member of the American Bar Association and the Chicago Bar .
