The NAIC
is a national resource for information on all aspects of adoption
for professionals, policy makers, and the general public. Clearinghouse
services include technical assistance to professionals and policy
makers, a library collection, publications, databases on adoption
resources, and information on Federal and State legislation.
Child Citizenship Act
The Child
Citizenship Act became effective on February 27, 2001.
It represents a significant and important change in the nationality
laws of the United States. Under the new law, most foreign-born
children adopted by U.S. citizens will automatically acquire U.S.
citizenship on the date they immigrate to the United States.
